Grades 1 - 5 Information
In the primary grades at St. James Catholic School the religion classes are enriched with an in depth insight to the rosary and the Stations of the Cross. As students continue to deepen their faith they study the importance of the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist before they receive these blessed sacraments.
St. James primary grades also offer strong academics. This includes, but is not limited to, basic skills such as memorization of addition and subtraction facts, increasing mastery of reading and writing vocabulary words, science and social studies concepts. St. James primary students also study and use basic Spanish vocabulary. These lessons are enriched with hands on, outdoor learning experiences supplemented by seasonal visits to Hartley Nature Center and school visits by the Hartley Nature Center staff. These year long activities allow for the unique needs of all students to be met.
